I am sure you have all notice that I have also put a couple of new buttons on my blog,  look at the 1790 coverlet this is gorgeous and I am starting this, just got to work on block 1 by 15th July, think I will get this done next week.

There has been lots of technical stuff for me today to get up to scratch with yahoo groups and bloglovin,  so sorry no photos.

Enjoy the weekend

Just a bit of variegated pink to brighten the day

Who loves pink, I just couldn't, resist this DMC variegated thread  and I found this heart to embroider just because........ I got bored with finishing those projects that seem to go on forever....

Sorry couldn't get this turned around

Here is the progress for the cushion I started, I hope to quilt a patterned fabric with a zip for the back.

Something else I have been making is these bags that will have spring closures on them glad they are moving along nicely just the closures to put in two of them and one more to finish.  I am going to add crochet flowers to the stripe one.

Itching to stitch

I have been to the hospital Saturday to get my veins lasered and injected its what is the normal now instead of stripping the veins, thought this was enough, just as we'll they invented ibruprofen drugs.  I would rather have been stitching. I will still be stitching after my daily hour walk.

I did however have a burst of energy yesterday and got some binding done along with two backings ready for red home and appliqué flower baskets quilts.

BINDING

I always cut my binding 2.5inches and fold over and iron, that is after joining enough lengths to fit around your quilt.

Then I roll this all onto a paper towel or toilet roll inner.  Then it doesn't, get messy and tangled while you are sewing this on to your quilt.

This quilt is so easy for kids quilts you just use a fat quarter of a few different focus fabrics that reflect what the child likes. Eg jandals, tennis, shells, swimming, lollies then you frame these with a plain fabric.  The cuts are..................... If you are interested will put up a tutorial.  Just let me know.

FlowerGarden Delights by Kim McLean

I have been waiting and waiting ...  and finally this arrived in the mail today from Taupo Symposium my pattern for Kim McLean's class,  isn't it just delicious.

Can't wait to start but only allowed to prepare the pattern onto freezer paper.  Never mind I can just enjoy this until it becomes another project to finish.

I hope you are all enjoying stitching and not too snowed in, here in Southland it is not too bad where I am.

I have also been working on this cushion I started a couple of weeks ago.

Until next time

Fairyland Mischief is finished!!

Its done, but not quite put together which will not take long just some borders.   I decided to do some tidying and housework today, now I feel better the house is at least somewhat tidy.  It will probably be messy again by the time someone comes to visit.

Get Well PARIS we miss you

Our darling tiny pussykitten needed to go back to the spca and get some vet care, Her weight and not eating enough was an issue, along with diarrhea (can't think how to spell this at this time of night) We cannot see her as she is in isolation but they tell me she is doing fine and they are syringe feeding her.  Lets hope she grows into a big pussy cat.

The dogs are wondering where this tiny animal has disappeared to but they are loving the attention again, however they have not been walked too much in the last few days due to myself being under the weather as it seems I am the only animal handler in the family that tends to ensure they are exercised!  Funny that.  Does that happen in your house, every one wants the animals but no one does the caring.

I have updated the blog and hopefully now you can actually use the buttons I have on the site.

I have been looking for a recipe for liquid starch and have found some and I am going to have a go at making this.  I want to give the starch method of applique a go to see if this would be a good option for some of my students.  Will keep you posted.  A passion for Applique blogger did needleturn all the time and now swears by the starch method, so lets have a go at this and see how good this is.

No photos tonight.  Maybe tommorrow.

Happy sleeping and stitching bloggers.

Who says dogs don't watch tv.

I am not sure who is enjoying the tv programme more?

Murphy frequently sits and watches tv with me.  Perhaps he is more human
 than dog.

Today I finally finished the last Fairyland block.  Tomorrow I hope to put the top together.  Things have been a bit slow around here have been laid low for a couple of days with the flu.

Monday-itis

Where to start, its Monday, I have had a busy weekend, New cat, anniversary, 8th birthday, not very motivated to stitch today but might sit in the sun and stitch until school pickup.

Here are the "Fairyland Blocks" so far, lots of stitching, when you think you have just finished you find more to stitch.

Going to be gorgeous, lots of bright colours.

Happy Stitching for today  Sharon

Sleeping beauty is eating

Yes Paris is eating more now but very slowly and I softened kitty nuts so that might get her more vitamins, is sleeping a lot but a lot of purring and just wants to be cuddled.  She sleeps in cage through the night so what a good girl.

A new member for our family!

Welcome Paris to our family.  This tiny member of our family arrived Thursday from the spca.  We got rung early because she was not thriving down in the cold and was not eating much as the tiniest in the cage, so we are fostering her at the moment to see if she thrives and puts on some weight.  Only .586gms.  Eating a bit but not much at all having to encourage her to eat and drink  so lets hope things improve.  I think a visit to the vet to see what I can try to encourage her to eat, currently on chicken mince.  Does not like kitty food pouches or kitty nuts yet.  She is just gorgeous and very cuddly and has the loudest purr for the size of her.

Here she is!

I can even stitch with her on my knee, think she might be a quilting cat!

My Garden is in disarray!

You may very well ask where have I been!  Having a panic attack and trying to sort my garden.  In a tired moment (never trim blocks at night)  I trimmed three of my down in the garden blocks,  BUT TO THE FINISHED SIZE.   What a panic and I didn't have any churn dash fabric left.  But I knew I would never be happy if I didn't pull these apart and recut and sew along with restitch!  I then had a memory of a fabric I thought I had used once which was similar to the Churn Dash Fabric, and yes upon looking in my scrap bags I found a similar fabric with larger spots but near enough for me.

So that is where I have been and not on blog land.  We are getting closer to being all stitched again and back to 15 1/2" .

I have however had to stop to complete  "Fairyland" by Natalie Bird so my nearly 8 year old can receive at least all the finished blocks in her birthday package.  The last of  the blocks are here and the stitching is fun, look at the lovely bees!
